President’s Report 3rd February 2024
Welcome to the first Bulletin for 2024 and what seems like a sprint start (a mini marathon for some) to another busy year at RCOT.
Welcome Back DGE Lesley and Rob Shedden
Lesley (and Rob) have undertaken their final Governor Elect Training along with 500+ DGE’s and Partners. Following this training they headed down to Sarasota to enjoy further immersion in worldwide Rotary through a Home Stay Program hosted by the local District. Lesley gave a brief insight into their trip at last week’s online meeting. We all look forward to hearing more about their adventures in the weeks to come.
Where did January disappear to?
Well done to Linda Neale, Neil Henderson and Michael Read for the organising and running of another successful Book Fair. The event was another resounding success which could not be achieved through the hard work of our members, their partners and friends of our club.
Thank you to Bruce Turner and Margaret McPherson for coordinating our other fundraising activities at Cowrie Market and the Danger 1000 during holiday period as well. Thank you to Gerard Hogan for coordinating the members who supported the Cadel Evans Cycling Event last weekend. Each of these busy activities could not be conducted or supported without the active support of our members and friends. Thank you!
Planning is well underway for our upcoming Motor Show on February 11th. Be sure to check the latest copy of the Roster which has been circulated to all members and supporters by Richard Hawker. This is another club activity which requires all hands-on deck and some. See you all on Monday night for our final briefing to be conducted by PE Bruce Turner.
Planning – Setting Up for 2024-25 and Beyond
This Club is much more than the events which it conducts which when it all boils down is to raise funds to make a difference in our local community and beyond.
To better understand what those needs are locally, nationally and internationally. The RCOT Board have approved the development of a Strategic Plan 2024-30 and an Annual Plan 2024-25.
Gerard Hogan and Garth Symington will lead us through the initial stages of the development of our Club Strategic Plan 2024-30. Gerard will outline his methodology and process to the Club at a future meeting in March.
This will require the full support of the club membership to:
- Actively and positively support and actively participate in this planning process and plan development.
- Attend meetings of their respective committees to actively discuss and contribute to the completion of the Community Needs Assessment prior to the end of March 2024.
- Actively participate in the Strategic Planning Workshop(s) to develop the Club Strategic Plan 2024-30 and Annual Plan for 2024-25
Welfare
Thankyou to Maggie who has been following up on the welfare and support of out members and partners who are recovering from recent and long-term illness.
We wish a speedy recovery to Rob Shedden who was hospitalised during the week for a foot infection and is undergoing surgery tonight (Friday). He will have a long period of recovery.
On To Conference
Self-Appointed On to Conference Chair Neil Henderson advised this weeks meeting that 22 Members and Partners are attending the District Conference in Mt Gambier 15th -17th March.
We will be promoting our very own DG Lesley’s District Conference 2025 in Torquay and 13th Beach. Neil and Linda have selected and sourced our beach themed Hawaiian Shirts to be worn during our 15 Minute Presentation!
