How good was it folks – to be back meeting face 2 face! I really did enjoy being back seeing you all ‘in person’.

I was thrilled to be able to call up Daryl Lee, hand him his Torquay Rotary Dinner Badge, shake his hand and welcome him and his wife Maureen into our club.
Daryl has transferred to us from the Rotary Club of Essendon North.
Daryl is keen to be involved in club activities and has indicated his interest in joining some of our committees.

Following that superb meal provided to us by our caterers, we moved into the meeting room and were treated to a terrific presentation by Alan on the projects he has instigated and been involved with in Papua New Guinea.
Alan’s talk had a lot of relevance to us as we consider the Lese Oalai project our International Team are looking at, lead Robyn and John Oswald.
Thank you, John, for introducing Alan to us – a most interesting address.
Our First Cowrie Market is scheduled for Sunday 21st November.

We will be advised of the rules and regulations of this event.
Those on duty will be required to arrive a little earlier for a briefing, prior to being allocated your duty.
Mal will advise you further on this when the information from the organisers has been received.
Bruce Turner is putting in a lot of time into promoting and running Pets on Parade.
If you have some time – please contact Bruce, as he is looking for some help distributing promotional material and promoting the event.

I was preoccupied with quite a few things on Monday night, so was relying on feedback from our duty officers, as to how the rules and regulations of attending meetings at Kithbrooke Park went.
Face Masks is the big one! - Unless you are sitting down with a drink and or food, you must have a face mask on – covering your nose and mouth.
As has been mentioned, we have no choice in these regulations, so I ask for you to please adhere to the requirements of the venue we are attending.
Please note folks – you must be double Vaccinated to be able to enter the centre.
To save any embarrassment – please remain home until you have had your second ‘shot’.
One thing I forgot to mention on Monday, was the need to take your own glasses, empty bottles, and cans from your drinks back to the bar. The bar does not offer or have table service.
I have asked Jan to pass my apology onto the bar manager, as there was a lot of drink vessels left on the tables.
I heard Monday evening that Peter Bollen had spent some time in hospital recently with a bad case of food poisoning, fortunately not from Cynthia's cooking
........ It was great to see Peter with us on Monday. Our thoughts and very best wishes are with you Peter.
Vernon D’Souza’s recovery is still progressing very slowly. Vernon – we all send our very best – and look forward to seeing you with us as soon as possible.
Jan Emmett has been unwell. Jan is wrestling with a nasty cough, which is slowly improving (that’s Jan not the cough!)
We wish Jan all the best for a speedy recovery.

To reconfirm ….. Here is what is required for each meeting –
We have a member do the invocation and toast to Rotary International.
There is a chairperson to introduce the guest speaker and compile a report on the presentation, for the bulletin.
Moving tables –
As the room is set up differently for different events and functions held in the meeting room, tables need to be arranged to suit our meeting on the night. The tables are quite heavy and ideally require 2 people to lift them. These people can meet at 4.30pm as the tables need to be in place before 5pm (ready for the caterers to set them).
Attendance Officer –
To collect each of the dinner payments as people arrive …. Including using the credit card machine, as most people now pay by card.
COVID Marshall –
To stand by the door, make sure everyone who comes QR Codes before entering, hand sanitisers, and has a mask on.
Vaccination Officer –
This person will have a register and must make sure they ‘sight’ each person’s proof of Double Vaccination and complete the details on the register. Each person who enters must actually show their proof either on your smart phone, or official certificate.
Note – a members double vaccination proof need only be sited for our register once.
Greeter –
To meet and greet members, guests, and visitors, and ensure any guest and visitor is involved in conversations with others.
As mentioned, Monday, it is really important you register your attendance for our face 2 face meetings.
It becomes very difficult when people who have not registered their attendance turn up, as our caterers use the number of registrations for their catering purposes.
When you receive the email detailing the coming meeting – it has a Register or Decline link.
Click on this link - and then either click on REGISTER ME or DECLINE.
If it has been done and accepted – you will receive an email of confirmation.
It is also good for us, if you do not intend on coming to the meeting …. you DECLINE.
With our Community Events starting up again after months of ‘lockdown’, I would like to ask each of you to consider …..
‘What can I do to assist with each of the events we engage in’.
Some may think this is an interesting or strange question – but, we all have our limitations. With many things that need to be done, I ask you to look at the events, give them some thought and offer your services, thoughts, or suggestions as to how you may be able to assist.
Let’s all get involved when we can and enjoy the company of fellow members while volunteering out in the community.
On Monday we will be online for our Foundation evening.
This will finish at 7.30pm, as we have a board meeting following.
