Hello all,
Well our 2nd meeting at the Angling Clubrooms went well last Monday.
Rhonda provided us with a full wrap up of this years Book Fair which continues to go from strength to strength, this year clearing approx. $11,500 to go to funding of Club Projects.
It was a pleasure to give back $1,000 each to Lifeline and the Torquay Scouts, and to also present a thank you gift to Rosemary Featherstone the former owner of Torquay Books. It was the generous support of these people and their respective organisations that contributed to the success of our Book Fair.
This Monday will be a fun night of fellowship with Bayside Rotary Club at the Curlewis Golf Driving Range. Unfortunately I will be unable to be present but look forward to hearing reports from the night.
Hope you all have a great night and I'll catch up with you all on the 8th at Torquay Coast Primary School.
Monday's meeting was all about the Book Fair. We welcomed generous contributors to the Book Fair to present $1,000 donations to Desley McKnight from Torquay Scouts & Matt Richardson from Lifeline We also presented a gift to Rosemary Featherstone, the previous owner of Torquay Books for her continued support. They, and the organisations that they represent, have been extremely generous with donations of books and support for the Book Fair which is one of our biggest fundraisers
Monday 1st April we will be having a Joint Social Meeting with Bayside Rotary Club at The Range at the Curlewis Golf Club 1201 Portarlington Rd, Curlewis (Note that this is before the Golf Club main entrance)
The two activities to chose from are either Mini Golf or The Driving Range and there are Packages for both of these as follows (note if we have 16 people for each activity then the package offers better value as the Club Hire is free and there is a choice of 3 meals
Please note that RSVP's on Whoozin for this event closed on Friday to enable final arrangements to be made. If you missed getting your RSVP in on time You will still be able to attend but will need to call Jan Emmett for a late book in.
On the 7th of September at 6.22am I will be leaving on a little journey from port Douglas in North Queensland to my final destination of THE ROCK (ULURU).YES I'm doing the Race To The Rock I've made the choice to attempt this somewhat crazy event. As the saying goes "Miles are my meditation" and this has what has got me here. So I've created this page because I want to make a difference. I want to raise awareness and support for both young males who have been touched buy mental illness as well as those in particular the young male carers like myself. I have been a main support and carer for my wife over the last 11 years and have been very isolated with minimal support until I found wellways . I'm inspired by the work of Wellways Australia Limited and wanted to support them by raising money. All money raised will go to this group to give opportunities for these young men to access activities and support Please help me by giving whatever you can using the 'Give Now' button. The more people that know about Wellways Australia Limited , the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!
Congratulations – you did it! Rotary Club of Torquay raised an amazing $2,146.80.
Thanks to your hard work, the Surf Coast 2019 Relay has already raised $42,821.90 – with more still coming in – to help the 95 Victorians diagnosed with cancer each day.
Earlier this month Tom, Amanda and myself accepted an invitation to attend the Surf Coast Corvettes Club meeting where we were presented with a cheque for $1,250 to be added to our 2019 Motor Show proceeds.
Their Club held a fundraising event on the Saturday Night before our Show where they raised the funds and were pleased to pass it on to our Club to assist us with upcoming projects.
Amanda, Tom and I were warmly welcomed and had an enjoyable evening. On behalf of our Club we thanked them for their generous donation and look forward to working more closely with the SC Corvettes Club in the future.

Hello!
This is the final year my children will have the great privilege to be involved in the surf program.
I know that none of it would be possible without the generosity of so many volunteers. Thankyou to each person who has raised money, welcomed our children, helped them learn to surf, cooked sausages, baked sweets, and generally done everything possible to give them a positive coastal experience.
I am so grateful for the effort that has gone into organizing the annual event. Both my children look back on their time in Torquay as a highlight of their year.

We are now fully operational with our new system for registering for our weekly dinner meetings. Called Whoozin, this program is used by other local Rotary Clubs with great success.
To make it easy for everyone I have prepared a Whoozin User Manual which is stored on Clubrunner under "Club Documents" that you will be able to print off if you wish.
In Summary the way it will work is:-
You will receive an initial email invitation each Monday for the following week's meeting.
You can immediately accept or decline, leave until later.
You will receive a reminder email on the Friday Prior
You will have until Midnight Sunday to register your RSVP and can change your decision right up until the closing time.
You can register up to 5 guests
You can specify any Special Dietary requirements
Please Note that if you do not register your intentions you will be charged for the dinner fee.

The duty team should arrive no later than 6:00 p.m. Besides the below duties, the assigned team is responsible for Room Setup, Greeting Members and Guests, and Room Tidy at the end of our meeting - see checklist in storeroom or click here .
Notifying someone about changes to your meeting attendance is your responsibility!
Our meetings have catered dinners, so if you are unable to attend a meeting, or if your partner is unable
to attend a designated Partner's Night, YOU MUST ADVISE us of your or your partner’s absence.
This also applies if you are attending the meeting but not dining.
How to Book in for our Dinner Meeting?
For Members, Partners and guests of Members
you will receive email invitations to each meeting via Whoozin.
It will be your responsibility to RSVP using Whoozin by Midnight on the day prior to the meeting.
The only exception to this will be if you are expecting to be out of internet connectivity for an extended period.
In this instance you can notify Richard Mierzejewski at LET Surfcoast on03-5261 2777 by 4.00pm on the Saturday prior to the Monday Meeting.
Please Note there is NO Answering Service on this number.
Remember if you are bringing guests or your partner (to a non-partner night) you need to RSVP for the extra number of person/s who will be attending.
If no RSVP is registered as per the above process, the absentee member will be issued with an invoice to pay the Club the usual dinner fee of $25 for your non-attendance, and/or that of your partner if it is an official Partner's Night.
For Visitors to the Club
Any Visitors not being registered as a guest of a Member must call Richard Mierzejewski at LET Surfcoast on03-5261 2777 to Book in. RSVP's must be made no later than 4.00PM on the Saturday prior to the Meeting
