President's Report No 1
Hello All,
Welcome to the new Rotary Year and to this year’s theme “Rotary Connects the World”.
Firstly, it gives me great pleasure to announce that we will be Hosting an inbound Youth Exchange Student – LIN Ting who hails from Taiwan. She will be arriving in August and will attend the Geelong Lutheran College. Host families are Alanna Begg & Paul Westaway and yours truly (as our children keep leaving home!). We are all very excited!
To get us started with planning and focussing on the year ahead I sought the services of our own club member, Howard Randall, who just happens to be the AG Learning & Development. Howard is a very skilled facilitator and I was very impressed with how he guided us through what can be “heavy” work. I came away with a strong sense of what the members are thinking and where we can improve. The main area of service that we focussed on was Membership and I look forward to developing this area with Director Gaynor, her committee and all members.
Speaking of Committees – we will discuss more at our meeting Monday 15th July.
In my first week as President I had the pleasure of attending the Grovedale/Waurn Ponds Rotary Club to witness their Exchange Student - Erik from Germany, present his Final Presentation. It was a lovely evening and a reminder to all that RC G/WP will be celebrating their 40th Anniversary in August (further details later in Bulletin).
The following night Lesley and I attended the Torquay Lions Club Changeover Dinner at the Lions Village. It was a very pleasant evening and interesting to know that they face the same challenges as us and we look forward to working with them to help serve our community.
It’s been great seeing what our members are up to on their travels….please send us some warmth!
Unfortunately, I am away next meeting but have asked President Elect Jan Emmett to chair the meeting. See you on the 15th!
Our Club has been invited to attend RC of Grovedale/Waurn Ponds (our Charter Club) 40th Birthday on 14th August. There will be a number of us attending so we will get enough for a table if anyone is interested give Lesley or Greg P or Michael a call

We are now fully operational with our new system for registering for our weekly dinner meetings. Called Whoozin, this program is used by other local Rotary Clubs with great success.
To make it easy for everyone I have prepared a Whoozin User Manual which is stored on Clubrunner under "Club Documents" that you will be able to print off if you wish.
In Summary the way it will work is:-
You will receive an initial email invitation each Monday for the following week's meeting.
You can immediately accept or decline, leave until later.
You will receive a reminder email on the Friday Prior
You will have until Midnight Sunday to register your RSVP and can change your decision right up until the closing time.
You can register up to 5 guests
You can specify any Special Dietary requirements
Please Note that if you do not register your intentions you will be charged for the dinner fee.
If you have any problems please free to contact myself Greg Plumridge 0418521321 or Michael Reed 0418524315 for details on how to work the program.
If you cannot meet one of your assigned duties, Please contact Bruce Smith to advise.
