President’s Report 16 May 2024
Hello Members and Friends,
Thank you to John Oswald for organising our speakers and guests from Interplast at our meeting last Monday night.
Interplast, is a cooperative arrangement between Rotary and the Australian College of Surgeons which organizes and arranges volunteer teams of Surgeons, Anesthetist and Theatre staff to perform urgent and life changing plastic surgery across the South Pacific. In addition to the surgery performed, Interplast trains local doctors, nurses, and surgeons to create future self-sufficiency.
Our Board met last Monday night as well to decide on where best to contribute our fundraising monies this year. Included in our total disbursements are support to the following:
Community:
Torquay Community House, Welcome to Barwon, Cancer Council, Our Village (Geelong Mums), Blaze Aid, End Trachoma, Lift the Lid, Donate Life (recognizing Mary Elliott) and local Food Relief organisations.
Plan: Walk through and around the centre of town then reconvene at Mavis Mavis for refreshments and social time.
Please wear your purple attire.
Thank you to everyone who walked this week. Again a small group but one which walked along The Esplanade in Torquay and raised quite a few questions and comments of support.
To be held at Deakin University June 19 & 20, 2024. Daryl Lee is organising our involvement in this event, however please check with Richard Hawker if you need further information on this while Daryl is away. You will need to supply vehicle registration for parking purposes and I believe you require Working with Children check.
