CLUB ASSEMBLY
The first meeting of the year was a Club Assembly where some lively committee group discussions helped to crystallise our plans for the new Rotary Year.
A "Quick Questionnaire" provided some interesting views and thoughts from members to help us plan a Rotary year that will hopefully address the needs of all. I am waiting for responses from members who could not attend last week's meeting and then I will send out a summary to all members.
The President's STAR OF THE MONTH award was presented to John McDonald for the great mentoring he has provided over the last few weeks. This award will be passed on each month to a Rotarian who does something great for the Club.
Please can we have volunteers for the Traffic Controller training/renewal as soon as possible, so we can take advantage of the District Grant that has been approved.
DINE WITH CADEL EVANS
On Wednesday night we held a fabulous Rotary event "Dine with Cadel Evans" at the Surf Coast Hotel. Ian Cover was MC and interviewed Cadel, who answered all questions in a very relaxed way and he expressed his support for Rotary. It truly was a wonderful evening thanks to Howard Randall and his committee including Lesley Shedden, Belinda Dawson , Sheridan Jones, Michelle Gertz, Tony Stewart, Richard Mierzejewski, Greg Plumridge and Stephanie Reed.
A successful auction and raffle was held and Cadel was thrilled to win a prize but when his name was drawn a second time he generously called for a redraw, as did our own Linda Neale. All funds from the night will go to ROMAC, Interplast, Australian Rotary Health and a local health project.
