Cadel Evans AM is considered the greatest Australian cyclist of the modern era and is the only Australian to win the prestigious Tour de France.  Early in his career, Cadel was a champion mountain biker, winning the world cup in 1998 and1999.  After transitioning to road cycling, Cadel is now one of only four cyclists in the world to have finished on the podium of all three Grand Tours (the Tour de France, Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a Espana) as well as winning the UCI Road World Championship.  He is a four-time Olympian, and he stands among the true legends of the sport.

The event is a fund raising evening for Torquay Rotary with its focus on supporting Rotary Health Programs.  This includes supporting healthier minds, bodies and communities through research, awareness and education.  In addition several international components as well as our own local community.

Supporting Rotary Health Programs.

  • Supporting healthier minds, bodies and communities through research, awareness and education - Australia Rotary Health.
  • Provide specialist treatment for children, from developing countries, in the form of life saving and/or dignity restoring surgery not accessible to them in their home country. ROMAC
  • On our surgical programs and many of our training and mentoring activities, Interplast gives free surgical treatment to people who otherwise couldn’t access procedures that could restore their ability to function fully and give them new hope. While they work, our volunteers train and mentor local professionals, laying the foundations for stronger health systems with no need of outside help. Interplast.
  • Local community health programs.
Introduced in 2015, the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race is the first event of its kind in Australia. Cadel’s drive to create this race, give back to Geelong and the Surf Coast region, and inspire a nation to commit to a healthier lifestyle on two wheels is both commendable and a source of immense pride to him.  Cadel has generously agreed to support this event.
